Parks Crew Members are responsible for performing stewardship responsibilities of our award-winning parks system and fostering clean and safe areas in our parks.
This stewardship includes routine maintenance of grounds and facilities such as mowing grass, debris and trash removal, and basic equipment maintenance; and developing knowledge of general horticultural and arboreal practices.
Incumbents will also assist in maintaining sustainable and safe parks through efforts that include, but are not limited to, recycling, eradication of invasive plant species; and dragging, aerating, and lining recreational fields.
Parks Crew Members will receive training in forestry safety; the use and maintenance of commercial grade zero turn mowers, small engine equipment, chain saws, herbicides, fertilizers, and soil amendments; and other areas in order to increase job skills and knowledge.
This position will provide support for department wide activities and countywide initiatives and assist co-workers and other departments with special projects such as setting up and taking down for events, performing equipment maintenance, and other activities as needed.
The ideal candidate will possess basic knowledge of grounds maintenance practices and equipment; basic skill in performing grounds maintenance, operating grounds maintenance equipment; and basic communication skills to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
This position creates opportunities for growth and promotional capability within Community Services.
Ideally, the Parks Crew Members will build towards attaining landscape and arborist certifications.
Minimum QualificationsCandidate must be 16 years of age.
General experience in customer service, janitorial services, and/or grounds maintenance preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
